About our volunteer program:
Volunteers are vital to our operations. They donate their time to help prepare and serve meals, clean up and provide administrative assistance.
Volunteers include individuals and groups from many organizations, including congregations,
civic groups, fraternities, sororities, university student groups and government agencies.
We also provide volunteer work opportunities for those performing public restitution and workfare.
Indiana University students are an important component of the volunteer program, which makes
the summer a critical period. The agency needs over 65 volunteers each week most of the year
and 90 volunteers each week during the summer.
Volunteering:
Community Kitchen relies heavily on volunteer support. We use approximately
11 volunteers/day (16/day in the summer) to help with meal preparation and meal
service. Our year-round volunteer shifts are from 11:30am-1:30pm and 3:30-6:30pm
each Monday—Saturday.
If you are interested in a volunteer experience that is hands-on and on the front
lines, we have a job for you! We welcome volunteers aged 10–13, accompanied by an
adult, and those 14 and older, without an adult. You can volunteer one time or sign
up for a regular once/week or once/month shift. If you are interested in signing up
for a volunteer time or just need more information, please call us at 332-0999.
Come make a difference in your community!
